RDSA’s Tenant Organizing Working Group works in close-collaboration with the Richmond Tenants’ Union to assist Richmond-area renters in building counter-power against their landlords through tenant unions and associations. We organize and execute neighborhood union canvases, help facilitate meetings between residents, and help build the foundations for self-sustaining, tenant-led activism.
On top of that, the Group holds regular eviction defense canvases where we survey public court documents to monitor landlord eviction activity in Richmond, make contact with tenants with eviction proceedings against them, and deliver information about court proceedings and their rights.
